Thomas Dodd double bass
The Ira Gold bass has been in continuous use in all major London orchestras for over two hundred years. Its mammoth cello-shouldered design was the product of the legendary London bass maker Thomas Dodd. Though there is a great deal of confusion over these instruments, both are considered classics. A close comparison between the Ira Gold bass and the Thomas Dodd double bass will reveal that the Ira Gold bass is more likely to be the original.
