HRF made eight donations in BTC to further censorship-resistance, open-source solutions, Bitcoin Core development and other initiatives in the ecosystem.
According to a press release, the Human Rights Foundation (HRF), announced its latest round in donations of $325,000 in BTC. These donations were focused on supporting key elements within the Bitcoin ecosystem.
With this round of bitcoin donations, HRF is focusing on censorship-resistance, open-source custody solutions, Bitcoin Core development, Chaumian e-cash, and education across the globe.
BTCPay Server, an open source bitcoin payment processor, received the largest contribution of $100,000. This software allows anyone to accept bitcoin payments anywhere in the world. It also allows for censorship-resistant money and relative privacy. According to the release, this particular donation was made in partnership by Strike's affiliated nonprofit.
Jon Atak will receive $50,000 and Josh Kitman will receive $50,000. Atak, a core developer, is constantly reviewing and improving Bitcoin. Kitman, on the other hand, is currently working on Fedimint which is a Chaumian ecash solution for Bitcoin.
Keith Mukai received a $25,000 donation to support his work on Seed Signer. This offline, air-gapped Bitcoin wallet is intended to be used for business purposes. Mukai will also be involved in research and development and will provide multilingual support for right -left languages like Arabic and Hebrew.
Leigh Cuen has been awarded a $25,000 grant to help her develop a guide on bitcoin donations for non-profits. This guide guides non-governmental organizations (NGOs), government institutions, and activists on how they can accept bitcoin donations. It will be released next month in partnership by the Bitcoin Policy Institute.
Robosats will receive $25,000 in addition to the individual developers. This is a peer-to-peer (P2P), open-source peer–to-peer (P2P), Lightning exchange. It will continue development, provide multilingual support, and create guides for the product.
Novaya Gazeta will also be receiving a $25,000 donation. This is an independent Russian news agency that focuses on investigative reporting about Russian politics and society. This funding will allow the outlet to investigate the relationship between cryptocurrency, human rights, and the Russian invasion in Ukraine.
The Vinteum Initiative, an independent bitcoin research and development center will receive $25,000 to fund its educational seminars, fellowships and grants that support and develop Bitcoin developers in Brazil.
Over $1.5 million has been donated by the HRF in USD and BTC over the past 2 years to support Bitcoin development around the globe. The HRF will announce its next round in January 2023.
